Star Wars: Aftermath by Chuck Wendig, published by LucasBooks and Del Rey

Back in the Saddle / #ForceFriday

or “How I [Will Have] Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Writing Again”

Day Four. I’m a writer again.

No, not just, ‘I am writing again,’ but I am a writer… again.’ It’s, like, all about the emphasis of your syllables.

A frustrating amount of success in writing goes into the (relatively) silent internal struggle, taking placed on the charred battlefield of the thought process. I have to not only push to re-establish the habit of writing, but actually combat the habit of not writing. Not writing is, in my humble experience, way way way easier than writing.

I could carry on about the woes of being a writer, yes, boo hoo, it’s so terribly difficult, but instead, BAM:

Star Wars: Aftermath by Chuck Wendig

Yes, yes, yes, it’s Force Friday. I honestly had not heard of this until the latest iteration of Throwback Thursday, as in yesterday, but it sounded awesome so I decided to participate in my own, small way.

Specifically, I threw an Audible credit at this book, because it was money already spent and I really want to read it.

Then I tweeted about it!

(News agencies are using tweets in online reports lately, which I find very odd. But that is neither here nor there, as I have no journalistic cred whatsoever and this post is about other stuff.)

I listened to five chapters so far, fewer than I wanted to but more than expected. (It was a busy day not writing, honest!) The story is still in the setup phase, so I’m not sure where it’s going, but I’m excited to read more. On the production side, the audiobook is pretty neat, with background noises like blaster fire and swooping fighters screeching behind the narration.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a good weekend… so long as I can whip this flash fiction I’m writing into shape.

Wish me luck… and may the Force be with y’all.

Y’allways.
