September? More like Remember-How-to-Write, Right?

Catchy title, right?

That is the launch of the brand new attempt at this crazy writing thing.

You see, for the last few months, I haven’t been a writer. I took a leave of absence, a sabbatical, a furlough of the sort where I didn’t work on writing much but didn’t get to relax either.

Surprise, I moved to Florida. Surprise surprise, moving across the country is actually quite a lot of work. Surprise the third, moving in the middle of the summer from somewhere hot to somewhere hotter is miserable.

Regardless, here we stand. I have arrived from Indiana, returned to Indiana for the thing I knew I’d have to do, and arrived yet again. The Excuse Train has left the station, and its conductor is making mean faces at me. (Shouldn’t she be, like, at the front of the train? Maybe she has some good excuses keeping her away from her duties.)

The recent past has not been devoid of artistic endeavors, as preparation for a collaborative project made a lot of progress, but now I have to get back to my bread and butter. Or get back to seeking enough success to BUY some bread and butter, or bread and peanut butter… [EDIT: removed lunch-related tangent]

Because it has been so long since I did daily progress, I’m starting at ground zero, using the Magic Spreadsheet philosophy: a personal minimum of 250 words a day. I don’t think it will be as difficult as last time. (It had BETTER not be as difficult as last time, because re-rolling my stats sounds like a terrible idea.)

On top of that, I need to produce a couple of drawings per day and make solid edits on the most immediate project, so I have my work cut out for me.

Thanks for sticking around. There will be more interesting stuff to see here in the near future.
